WAEC Result 2011 Out

The West African Examination Council, (WAEC) on 10th August, 2011 released results of the May/June 2011 West African Senior School Certificate Examination, (WASSCE) with 30 per cent of the candidates making credits in both English and Mathematics.

Although the number of candidates who made credits in Maths and English was an improvement on last year’s record of 25 per cent, education watchers contend that the result portends danger for Nigeria’s future.

For the first time in three years, there is a marginal improvement in the performance of candidates as shown in the just released results of the last May/June West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).

This change is seen in the number of candidates who obtained credit passes in five subjects, including Mathematics and English language.

The head of National office, Iyi Uwadiae who announced the result to newsmen at Indices Suite Garden, Abeokuta said a
total of 472,906 candidates representing 30.99 had credit in both Mathematics and English language compared to last year where 337,071 candidates representing 24.94 per cent had credits in Mathematics, English and other subjects.

Uwadiae stated that a total of 1,460,003 candidates representing 94.79 per cent had their results fully processed, while 80,247 candidates, representing 5.21 per cent had a few subjects still being processed due to various errors and omissions traceable to candidates.
The head office maintained that a total of 1,540,250 candidates, consisting of 844,630 male and 695,620 female sat for the examination.
Out of a total of 110 blind candidates who sat for the examination, 41 candidates representing 37.27 per cent obtained credit and above in five subjects.

Uwadiae added, “618,924 candidates representing 40.55 per cent obtained credit and above in 6 subjects, 789,288 candidates representing 51.71 per cent obtained five credits and above while 943,187 candidates representing 61.80 per cent obtained credits in four subjects, whereas 1,084,817 candidates representing 71.08 per cent obtained credit and above in three subjects. A total of 1,223,359 candidates, representing 80.15 per cent obtained credit and above in 2 subjects”.

He stressed further that the body has made arrangement to ensure hitch-free examination in the coming season.
“One of our priorities over the years is stemming the unfortunate scourge of examination malpractice in order to protect the sanctity of our certificates. The council has also expended so much resources in campaigning against examination malpractices”, he said.

I write to submit my plea that I have a problem checking my result. The problem is that I always get a feedback that my result is pending. Please I humbly want to know when results of those who have theirs pending will be released. This is because some of us did by university admission forms and the fear is that any delay will cease our opportunity entering the university this year. Thanks for complying with this humble plea and hoping that you do your best to comply with this request. Thanks.
