Nasarawa Sets Up Panel To Probe N25m Loan By Akwanga College

Nasarawa State government has set up a six-man investigation committee to look into a N25million loan obtained by the management of the Akwanga College.

While inaugurating the committee in his office in Lafia, the state Deputy Governor, Mr Dameshi Luka Barau, who stood in for the governor, urged members of the committee to discharge their duties with a high sense of responsibility and fairness.

Speaking at the occasion, Barau noted that the investigation is not intended to witch-hunt anybody but to ascertain the true position of the finances of the institution in the spirit of probity and accountability.

He called on the members of the committee to live up to their bidding just as he urged the college community to cooperate with the members of the committee to enable them discharge their duties successfully.

The terms of reference of the committee according tothe Deputy Governor include to investigate the circumstances that led the management of the College of Education Akwanga toaccess N25 million loan facility from a commercial bank, the rational behindthe N12 million overdraft and to ascertain whether the transactions were inaccordance with financial regulations.
