Expert Warns Against Low Standards of Education
Proprietors of private schools in the federal capital territory have been warned not to compromise the standard set by the Federal Capital Development Authority for private schools. Specifically, school operators were advised to strive to meet up with the expectation of the regulators and do the right thing at the right time.
Director of Education, Federal Capital Development Authority, Dr. Emmanuel Aina, gave this warning at the 7th convocation ceremony of Best Schools International Academy, Abuja. Dr. Aina, who was represented by Mrs. Jane Onyekwere of the Department of Policy Implementation, noted that some schools were always reluctant to conform with set standards, warning such schools to desist or face the consequence.
She expressed satisfaction with Best Schools International Academy, describing it as trail blazer in keeping with proper academic standard. The director, also expressed worry over the use of information communication technology by pupils which though meant for information dissemination, is indirectly killing the intuitive and innovative abilities in students.
‘’Most students no longer take the pains of researching and reading other than just using the internet as a short cut to download information.” she stressed.
Chairman of the occasion, Prof. Uka Ezenwe, in his speech, said it was gratifying that the school has been successful within a short period of time, having won the 2010 and 2011 Northern Macmillian Academic Competition.
